Another school year is coming to an end. I know that both students and the teachers are awaiting the last day. Summer is coming!
However, unlike students, many teachers do not just "take" the summer off. Many teachers take some breaks in the summer, but often we are gathering ideas for the next year. I know of many teachers that take classes, read educational materials, and are busy finding new resources for the next school year.
I want to encourage all teachers to take time for themselves during the summer months because we need to recharge our batteries. However, I know that many of you will be spending time preparing for the next school year. I encourage teachers to learn from other teachers by connecting with Twitter or Pinterest. These two resources have so much to offer. Both of these social media sites allow you to become part of the conversation or allow you to quietly watch in the background. Here is a link to Twitter Educational Hashtags. Or, a teacher can just search for formative assessment on PInterest by searching using the keywords "pinterest formative assessment". If you have never tried either of these teacher tools, I hope that you can find some time this summer to give them a try.
I am going to take some time for myself this summer. But, I also plan to do some preparation for the next school year. If you have any questions that arise about technology integration during your summer break, please do not hesitate to send me an email if I can be of help to you. Don't cycle into the next school year without some new technology tools that you can use with your students.
